For IT companies and managed service providers
VoIP and Microsoft Teams Calling for Australian IT Companies — One Number, Wherever Your Team Works
IT businesses need two things from a phone provider: a system that works properly for their own helpdesk, and one they can confidently put in front of clients. Click2Call provides Microsoft Teams Direct Routing, SIP trunks for the PBX you already run, and an API that pushes call events into your ticketing system.
7-day free trial with $11 of call credit. No card needed to sign up.

Key Takeaways
- ✓Telstra Calling for Office 365 ends on 30 November 2026. Clients still using it need a new Teams calling provider, and number ports take time.
- ✓Teams calling on real Australian numbers. Direct Routing connects Teams to Click2Call. You pay Microsoft for Teams Phone Standard and us $25 a user.
- ✓Recording without a Microsoft recording licence. Calls are recorded on the Click2Call side, with transcripts and summaries.
- ✓SIP trunks for existing PBXs. 3CX, FreePBX, Asterisk and Yeastar each have a setup guide. A trunk is $50 a month with 500 outbound minutes.
- ✓Call data for your PSA. Webhooks report ringing, answered, ended and missed calls, plus AI analysis, to whatever system you run.
Telstra Calling for Office 365 is being withdrawn
Telstra stopped selling Telstra Calling for Office 365 to new customers on 1 November 2024, and the service is withdrawn from 30 November 2026. If any of your clients still make Teams calls through it, they need a new route to the phone network, and the runway is short.
Click2Call offers Teams Direct Routing, which keeps calling inside the Teams app your client already uses. Users still make and answer calls in Teams, on desktop and mobile, using an Australian number supplied by Click2Call.
The slowest part is moving the numbers. Local numbers usually port in 5–10 business days, and 1300 or 1800 numbers can take up to 30 days. Lodge ports early, keep the existing service active until the numbers arrive, and cut over once the new routing has been tested.

How Teams calling works with Click2Call
Microsoft Teams can't reach the public phone network on its own. It needs a Direct Routing provider on the other side of a session border controller, and Click2Call is that provider. Calls pass between your client's Microsoft 365 tenant and our SBC, and from there to the phone network.
Each user needs two things:
- ✓A Microsoft Teams Phone Standard licence (or E5), bought from Microsoft at about $15 a user a month ex GST
- ✓A Click2Call Teams User plan at $25 a user a month ex GST, which includes an Australian number, 300 outbound minutes and unlimited inbound calls
Setup can be done in-house. Our step-by-step guide takes 30–45 minutes the first time and needs Global Admin access to the tenant plus some comfort with PowerShell. Doing it yourself costs nothing. If you'd rather hand it over, managed Teams setup is a one-off $55 inc GST per user.
Recording happens on the Click2Call side, so Teams calls can be recorded without buying a Microsoft recording licence. Recorded calls come with transcripts and summaries, which suits client-facing teams that need a record of what was agreed.
SIP trunks for the PBX you already manage
Plenty of IT providers look after on-premises or hosted PBXs for clients. If the PBX is staying, all it needs is a dependable trunk. Click2Call SIP trunks have setup guides for 3CX, FreePBX, Asterisk and Yeastar.
A SIP trunk is $50 a month ex GST and includes 500 outbound minutes, unlimited inbound calls and two concurrent channels. There's no lock-in, so you can trial a trunk on one client's system before moving the rest.
Two things are worth configuring on day one:
- ✓Failover. Set Forward when Offline on the trunk's main number, so calls go to a mobile or another site if the PBX stops answering.
- ✓Toll fraud protection. Use strong passwords and lock the PBX down. Click2Call also watches calls to high-risk overseas destinations in real time and applies hourly and daily spending limits.
If a client's PBX is near the end of its life, the Cloud PBX plan replaces it entirely, with queues, hunt groups, menus and recording, and nothing on site to patch.
Call events in your PSA, CRM or ticketing system
An IT business already runs on tickets, so the phone system should feed the same place. Click2Call sends webhooks when a call starts ringing, is answered, ends or is missed, and when the AI analysis of a recorded call is ready.
With those events, a small integration can:
- ✓Open a ticket when a client's call is missed, with the caller's number and the time
- ✓Attach the transcript and summary of a recorded support call to the ticket
- ✓Look up the caller against your client list while the phone is still ringing
- ✓Log talk time against each client for reporting
The call setup API can also start calls from your own tools: one web request rings the first number and, when it's answered, dials the second, which is all click-to-dial needs. There are no one-click apps for PSA platforms. Integrations are a small piece of code or a workflow in Zapier or n8n, and they're self-service, which is familiar territory for most IT teams.
Running your own helpdesk line
Your support number is the front door of the business. Set it up the way you'd advise a client to:
A queue for the support line
Callers hear their position and your announcements instead of ringing out while techs are busy on other calls.
Hunt groups by tier
Calls try level 1 first, then roll over to senior techs in the order you choose.
After-hours on-call
Business hours switch the line to the on-call tech's mobile overnight, or to the Answer Agent for anything non-urgent.
A wall screen
The live Call Dashboard shows calls in progress, callers waiting and missed calls, and can run on a TV in the office.
Hot desking lets techs log in to any desk phone by dialling *45, and the Secure VoIP app or a softphone covers staff working from home or on client sites.
Built by people who run an IT business
Click2Call is run from the Gold Coast by Royce Clark, who also runs bcom ICT, a business IT services company. That shapes how the product works. Billing is prepaid with no lock-in, so there's no contract to unwind when a client moves on. Portal logins can be added for each person who needs access, and two-factor login is available. Setups are documented in a public help centre you can send a client straight to.
It also shapes what we leave out. Integration work isn't sold as a paid service: the API is documented, the guides are public, and the system is designed to be supported by the IT provider who already looks after the client.
Managing phones for your clients
If you look after phones for several clients and want to manage them under your business, call the team on 1300 884 879 or email support@click2call.com.au. We'll talk through how accounts, billing and support would work in your situation.
Clients can each have their own Click2Call account, with separate numbers, settings and billing, so a change for one client never touches another.
